Landscape Preperation And DesignAs part of my own continued landscaping study, I often make time to look at yards and gardens created by do it yourselfers and homeowners. There are usually a lot of individual touches in every yard or garden that vary in degree of style, imagination, and budget. However, the key determining factor that I have seen between fantastic home landscaping ideas and not so great is the extent of planning that goes into each landscape or garden. It's clear that having a vision and planning everything might be challenging and confusing for rookie do it yourselfers. However, no matter how lengthy it is, do not leave out this phase. It is essential to the final functionality, effectiveness, continued growth, and appearance of your garden design. Make the time to plan. Remember the following hints. They will be handy for getting your ideas planned out and ultimately to the yard. When you start your design process you may find it beneficial to focus in the abstract rather than specifics. A great deal of professional landscapers design this way. As opposed to being caught up in specific plants or flowers that you would like to use in your landscaping plans, think of the colors, texture, shape, size, and function of the plants you need for specific areas. Unique plant types can be picked and researched after you complete the plan. Don't focus too much on each aspect of the landscaping project. Instead, concentrate on shape, accessibility, function, etc. Rather than thinking about specific supplies for patios, fences, walls, decks, walkways, and other hardscapes, think about the convenience, access, function, shape, size, and need. A frequent planning hindrance is being unable to look beyond what exists already. While it is good to integrate existing views and elements that are enjoyable, your landscaping project plans aren't confined to a lot more than budget, location, and inventiveness. It's very advantageous to think past what's already existing and start with an empty design in mind. Try sketching or copying your dream landscape into your area as though you've got a smooth blank dirt area to begin on. Look over landscaping pictures and copy the whole layout in your yard if you must. Revise it, adjust it, or try something else. The idea is to plan without constraint and then seee if it can be revised to work with what you have. The last piece of advice is to keep it basic by keeping elements to a few and repeating them. Also, you could try designing a point of focus in each main area. This might be just a lamp post, bed of flowers, or even an entry gate or door. Keep focal points to no more than one because too many will compete for focus and clutter the view. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
